Byron’s Drift - Sunday 20 May

Did a dive today with my buddy Richard, diving from the Sydney dive boat, Sea Tamer II.

The site was a drift dive along a wall south of Barren’s Hut, heading down towards Marley Point, off the Royal National Park in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire area. It was a bit of an exploratory dive, running with the light uphill current.

We dropped down on the top of the wall in about 16m, then headed east till we found the wall. Turning north, we meandered along at a depth range of 23–26m, in 18C water, with reasonable viz (about 10m).

We saw some small pipefish and some large bullrays, and a heap of other of the usual southern temperate water species.

A great dive on a fairly unique site.
