Photo of Solomon Airlines/SkyAirWorld Embraer E-Jet
From Airliners.net, here’s a photo of the new Solomon Airlines E-Jet on the ground in Brisbane.
I believe that the plane, and the airline SkyAirWorld that operates it on a “wet lease” to Solomon Airlines, are yet to commence services. It is hoped they will be flying by mid-May.
The introduction of this new plane will be important for the Solomon Islands tourism market, particularly for divers. Not only will it link Australia to Honiara, but it will also be used for services to Santo in Vanuatu, and Nadi in Fiji. All of these are popular with divers, and hopefully the new plane will increase access to the diving destinations in these areas.
